For 2022, our goal is to focus on building a Top Shop event that equally celebrates the amazing shops that help make skateboarding thrive as well as the skaters who support them. The plan for the Top Shop this year is as follows:

• Friday: Open Practice all Day

  • 3rd Lair will open at 10am for and will close at 7pm

• Saturday: Qualifiers

  • Doors will Open at 10am / Qualifier Jams will Start at Noon

    • Each Rider will be placed in a random jam and scored independently. (2 – 4 riders per jam, each jam will run 3 minutes)

    • The team qualifier score will be the sum of their top 4 riders’ individual scores (lowest score for the team will be dropped)

    • Top 8 highest scoring teams will go to finals on Sunday

• Sunday: Finals

  • Doors will Open @ 10am / Finals will start at Noon

    • Tournament style, head-to-head scored team demos. All 5 riders from a team will skate together in a 5-minute demo. Each team will go up against another team, the shop that puts on the best demo will move on to the next round

    • For round 1, shops will be matched based on qualifier team scores (1st place from Sat against 8th place from Sat. 2nd place from Sat against 7th place from Sat, etc.)

  • Best Trick Contest and awards will happen immediately following the completion of Finals.

• $2000 Cash for the Team Contest
• $250 for the best Qualifier run on Saturday
• $250 for best Trick Contest on Sunday

Shop Credits

• A total of $2000 in shop credits from our sponsors will be awarded to the top Placing Shops of the weekend.
• $1000 for top placing shop team
• $500 for 2nd
• $300 for 3rd
• $200 for 4th

• Friday Night May 27: Join us @ Cal Surf from 6pm - 9pm for: “These Streets are ours, a Twin Cities skate photo show

• Saturday Night Party: Our friends at Blood Bowl will be hosting a skate Jam at their Private bowl in South Minneapolis from 8pm - Midnight. Address/Directions will be provided to contest participants upon arrival to 3rd Lair.

• Bones wheels and Bearings exchange: The crew from Bones wheels and Bearings will be out for the weekend and doing a free Wheels/Bearing swap for anyone who wants to trade in their old ones for some fresh Bones. Your old gear will be donated to Be a Boarder, a MN Non -Profit Organization who gets skateboard equipment in the hands of youth who would not otherwise have access.

• Open Skate will be available for skateboards only Friday May 27 - Sunday May 29, 2022.

  • Normal Session times/Fees will be in place on Friday May 27

  • Open skate will be FREE on Saturday and Sunday May 28/29 

  • The Indoor street course will be closed for most of the weekend.

  • Indoor Bowl, Mini Ramp, Ditch, Woody’s Bowl, Henry’s ramps, and other outdoor areas will be open to ride.

• Spectators are welcome and there is no fee to come through and watch the event

• We will be providing free pizza on Saturday for all event participants. We will also have a limited supply available for spectators, all free of charge.
